Tim Keller and The Communion Revolution
The church is in decline. Tim Keller saw it coming—and he pointed to a way forward. But are we ready to take the next step?
In The Decline and Renewal of the American Church, he called for a revolution within Christianity’s culture—a movement toward:
✅ Deep discipleship rooted in genuine community.
✅ Radical hospitality that fuels mission.
✅ Churches uniting to impact the world.
For many, church feels like it’s missing something—not just attendance, but relational depth. Not just sermons, but a shared life.
What if the answer isn’t to build bigger buildings or better programs? What if the renewal Keller envisioned begins at the table?
The Communion Revolution is about rediscovering the kind of church that Jesus started—one built on deep discipleship, radical hospitality, and unity, practiced in everyday life.
In this series, we’ll explore how these principles can reshape our faith, our churches, and our communities—starting right where we are.
The Four Pillars of The Communion Revolution
1️⃣ Agape Feast – Restoring Christian hospitality as a primary practice of faith.
The early church didn’t just gather for sermons; they gathered at tables. This is the key to reviving the relational, communal life of the church.
2️⃣ Abide Course – Deep spiritual formation through a shared life, not just consuming intellectual content.
Discipleship isn’t just about knowledge; it’s about living out your faith in a community. The Abide Course is an 18-month rhythm of spiritual formation, prayer, and Communion.
3️⃣ Canopy – A decentralized network connecting believers and churches.
Not a new denomination, institution, or church-planting organization. The Canopy is a church-web—a network of relationships, agape feasts, and local mission efforts that any Christian can be part of.
4️⃣ Saunterre – Public prayer and mission, making faith visible in culture again.
Faith isn’t meant to be hidden in private or behind church walls. Saunterre mobilizes believers to pray in the streets, minister to the homeless, and make Christ visible in everyday life.
Over the next few posts, I’ll explore why this renewal is crucial, how Keller’s insights illuminate our path, and how The Communion Revolution answers his call.
It isn’t just about changing church programs. It’s about changing lives – yours, your community’s, and the church as a whole.
The table is set. Why don’t you pull up at chair?
